The Sandwiched Matriarch & Money
The Sandwiched Matriarch and Money refers to many of us. For example, are you caring for your elderly parents while taking care of your own family? Or, do you find yourself struggling to decide what to prepare for dinner because mom cannot chew well and her meal needs to be different from the rest of the family? Better yet, your teenage athlete has decided he must have a paleo diet for peak performance.
Hence, if you are scheduling play dates for the kids and doctors’ appointments for your parents and attending both and answered yes to any of the above questions, then you are a member of the Sandwiched Generation.
Sandwiched Generation
Overall, the Sandwich Generation refers to adults who simultaneously take care of their aging parents and their minor children/grandchildren. Moreover, the term was originally used in the United States in reference to the younger adult members of the Baby Boomer generation, who were said to be sandwiched between caring for aging parents and raising their own children.
